South Jersey Gas (SJG) has selected AAC Utility Partners (AAC) to consult the utility as it considers options for replacement of its legacy customer information system (CIS), the technology used to manage customer service and billing data.

Better service to customers through improved technology is the driving force for the project. SJG IT Project Coordinator Betsy Mazzone noted, “We have a long history of service to the people of South Jersey. We sensed this same commitment to service in AAC Utility Partners, and felt they were a good fit for both our project and our team.”

Mazzone continued by noting some key benefits of the new system, “An improved CIS system will provide the ability for us to know our customer better and will also allow for more customer interaction on our website. For example, customers will have the ability to schedule appointments and update their accounts online. Benefits to SJG’s customer service department would be the ability to see a greater amount of customer history and information at a glance.  Another benefit would be the ability to review and streamline processes resulting in more efficiency.”

AAC Managing Partner Steve Wenke echoed Mazzone’s sentiment, “SJG has been improving its technology for the betterment of its customers for some time now, and this examination of its CIS needs and goals is the latest iteration in that process. Because SJG operates in a deregulated market there is an additional layer of complexity to this project.  Given the strong support of executive management and the dedication and skill of the SJG project team, AAC is confident in our joint ability to explore all available options and recommend an optimal CIS solution. AAC is proud to play an integral role in this endeavor.”

A division of South Jersey Industries headquartered in Folsom, New Jersey, SJG provides natural gas to 350,000 residential, commercial & industrial customers in 112 municipalities across the southernmost third of the state.
