Bermuda Electric Project Wins Best CIS Implementation at CS Week 34
Columbia, SC - May 29, 2010
Bermuda Electric Light Company (BELCO) received the 2010 Expanding Excellence Award for Best CIS Implementation, Level II, Thursday at CS Week 34 in Nashville, TN. The award recognizes the success of BELCO’s CIS implementation project based on qualifiers that include: budget and schedule adherence, operational efficiencies gained, project innovation, and improvement to service levels.
The Expanding Excellence Awards, sponsored by Electric Light & Power, are given out each year at CS Week, a premier utility industry conference focused on the customer service and information technology needs of utilities throughout North America and the Caribbean. The awards’ “Best CIS Implementation” category honors two utilities every year from two categories based solely on gross revenue.
General Manager Damon Wade accepted the award on behalf of BELCO. On Friday morning, BELCO project manager Stephen Burrowes, with support by AAC Managing Partner Rick Cutter, presented an overview of the project, highlighting key factors in its success, among which, he credited the positive collaboration between the utility, consultant and vendor teams.
Throughout the project, BELCO utilized AAC’s proprietary NavigateOne project system and services, including AAC’s Project Quality Management (PQM), to monitor project performance, mitigate risk, minimize project issues and scope change, and deliver the functionality expected.
“The strength of the NavigateOne selection process that AAC brought to BELCO’s project was critical to our overall success, as we only had three minor change orders for missed requirements. This is unheard of,” commented Burrowes.
AAC Managing Partner Rick Cutter noted that “The dedication of BELCO and Cayenta to follow the methodology proved to be the prudent approach. Shortcuts were not taken. We believe BELCO’s impressive operational results after Go-Live demonstrate the success these technology projects can have. We are proud to have been a partner in BELCO’s award-winning implementation.”
